Xtreme IPTV Setup Guide
Installing Xtreme HD IPTV takes about ten minutes on a Firestick and about four on an Android phone. On a Firestick you turn on installs from unknown apps, install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore, enter code 5728794, install the CatchON TV app, then sign in with the username, password and server URL from your welcome email. On Android you install the same APK directly and sign in the same way. Everything below is the long version of those two sentences, plus the fixes for the four things that commonly go wrong.
What You Need Before You Start
Five minutes of preparation saves twenty minutes of confusion.
| You need | Why |
|---|---|
| Your username, password and server URL | They arrive by email after an order or a trial request. Nothing works without all three. |
| A supported device | Firestick or Fire TV, Android TV or Android TV box, Android phone, Android tablet. |
| A connection of at least 15 Mbps | Per stream, for HD. 25 Mbps for 4K, 5 Mbps for SD. |
| Five to ten minutes | Firestick takes the longest because of the Downloader step. |
If you do not have login details yet, request the 24-hour free trial and come back when the email lands. If your device is a Samsung TV, an LG TV, an iPhone, an iPad, an Apple TV or a Roku, read the section on unsupported devices before you go any further, because none of them run the app.
How Do I Install Xtreme HD IPTV on a Firestick?
This is the most searched version of the question, so it goes first. The whole thing is done with the Firestick remote and takes about eight minutes.
Allow apps from unknown sources
- From the Fire TV home screen, move to the top row and open Settings (the gear icon).
- Select My Fire TV. On some older sticks this is called Device.
- Select Developer Options. If you cannot see it, go back to My Fire TV, open About, and click the Fire TV Stick name seven times. Developer Options will appear.
- Turn Install unknown apps on. On older Fire OS builds the setting is a single switch called Apps from Unknown Sources.
Install Downloader
- Go back to the home screen and open Find, then Search.
- Type Downloader and select the orange icon published by AFTVnews.
- Choose Get or Download. It is free.
- Return to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options > Install unknown apps, find Downloader in the list, and switch it on. Skipping this step is the single most common reason the next part fails.
Download the CatchON TV app
- Open Downloader. Allow it access to storage if it asks.
- In the URL box, type 5728794 and press Go. That short code resolves to
aftv.news/5728794. - Wait for the download bar to finish, then choose Install.
- When it finishes, choose Open. You can delete the installer file when Downloader offers, it saves space on the stick.
- The app opens on a login screen asking for a username, a password and a server URL, sometimes labelled a portal or a host.
- Type all three exactly as they appear in your email. Capital letters matter. Type them by hand rather than trying to paste, because the Firestick clipboard is unreliable.
- Select Add user or Login.
- The app pulls the channel list. On a first load this can take one to three minutes because it is downloading 21,500+ entries and the programme guide. Let it finish.
Downloader code: 5728794
The code is the short form of https://aftv.news/5728794. You are done once the app signs in. Set up your favourites first, before you do anything else, because scrolling 21,500 channels with a remote gets old fast.
How Do I Install Xtreme IPTV on Android TV or an Android TV Box?
Nearly identical to the Firestick, with one difference: most Android TV devices let you install Downloader from the Google Play Store instead of the Amazon Appstore.
- Open Settings, then Device Preferences, then Security & restrictions, and turn on Unknown sources for the browser or file manager you will use.
- Install Downloader from Google Play, or use a file manager if your box does not have Play services.
- Open Downloader and enter 5728794, then Go.
- Install the APK, open it, and sign in with your username, password and server URL.
NVIDIA Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, Xiaomi Mi Box, and generic Android TV boxes all follow this path. Televisions running Android TV or Google TV as their built-in system, which includes many Sony, Philips, TCL and Hisense models, also work this way. Televisions running Samsung Tizen or LG webOS do not.
How Do I Install Xtreme IPTV on an Android Phone or Tablet?
The fastest of the four. Four minutes, no Downloader needed.
- Open your phone's browser and go to the download link in your welcome email.
- When the browser warns you about installing from unknown sources, open the prompt and allow the browser to install apps. On Android 8 and above this permission is per-app, so you are allowing Chrome or whichever browser you used, not the whole phone.
- Tap the downloaded APK and choose Install.
- Open the app and sign in with your username, password and server URL.
Android 7 or newer is required. On a tablet the layout is the same, just wider.
What If I Have a Samsung TV, an LG TV, an iPhone or a Roku?
There is no app for any of them, and the honest fix is a $30 dongle rather than a workaround inside the software.
Plug an Amazon Fire TV Stick into a spare HDMI port on the television, switch the input, and follow the Firestick instructions above. The stick runs the app natively. Your Samsung or LG becomes a display, which is all you need it to be. Apple TV and Roku owners do the same: the Firestick sits in the next HDMI port along.
For iPhone and iPad with no television in the picture, there is no route we can recommend, and we would rather say that than take your money. Watch on an Android phone or tablet, or on a TV with a Firestick attached. More detail on the app page.
Can I Use IPTV Smarters or TiviMate Instead?
Yes. Your login is an Xtream Codes API login, so any player that supports Xtream Codes will accept it.
| Player | Login type to choose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| CatchON TV | Xtream Codes / username and password | Our app, and the one support knows best |
| TiviMate | Xtream Codes | Best programme guide of the four, paid premium unlock for some features |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Login with Xtream Codes API | Familiar to anyone who has used IPTV before |
| OTT Navigator | Xtream Codes | Deeply customisable, more setup work |
In every one of them the process is the same: choose the Xtream Codes option, enter username, password and the server URL, and save. Do not choose the M3U option unless support has given you an M3U link, because the two formats need different inputs and mixing them up produces an empty channel list.
How Do I Fix a Blank Channel List or a Missing EPG?
Four causes account for nearly every failed setup. Work down the list in order.
- A typo in the credentials. Retype username and password by hand. Watch for
lversus1andOversus0. Confirm the server URL matches the email character for character, including whether it starts withhttp://orhttps://and whether there is a port number on the end. - The plan has not activated yet, or has expired. Trial logins issue within minutes but are not instant. Paid plans activate after the order is confirmed. Check your dates.
- The EPG is still downloading. The guide is a large file. On a first sign-in it can take several minutes to populate, and on a slow connection longer. Leave the app open on the guide screen rather than force-closing it.
- The device DNS is blocking the server. Some ISP-provided routers interfere with IPTV traffic. Setting your device DNS to a public resolver often clears it instantly.
If all four check out and the list is still empty, email help@catchontv1.email with your username and the device you are on. Do not send your password. The deeper fixes for buffering, freezing and app crashes are in the IPTV troubleshooting guide.
What Settings Should I Change After Installing?
Five minutes of tuning that pays for itself the first time you watch live sport.
- Build a favourites list. Long-press or use the menu button on each channel you actually watch. Then set the app to open on Favourites.
- Turn on hardware decoding. In the player settings, choose the hardware decoder rather than software. It cuts CPU load massively on a Firestick.
- Set the buffer size to medium. Too small and every network hiccup shows. Too large and channel changes crawl.
- Use ethernet if you can. A Fire TV ethernet adapter costs very little and does more for stability than any software setting. If ethernet is impossible, use the 5 GHz band, not 2.4 GHz.
- Set the parental PIN if children use the device, so the adult category is hidden.
- Restart the Firestick weekly. They leak memory. A weekly reboot prevents most of the slow-app complaints we get.
Setup FAQ
How long does Xtreme IPTV setup take?
About eight minutes on a Firestick, six on an Android TV box, four on an Android phone or tablet. The channel list takes another one to three minutes to load the first time.
What is the Downloader code for Xtreme IPTV?
5728794, which is the short form of aftv.news/5728794. Enter it in the Downloader URL box on a Firestick or Android TV device.
Do I need a VPN?
Not for the service to work. Some people use one for privacy reasons, and the app runs fine over a VPN. If streams stutter with the VPN on and are clean with it off, the VPN server is the bottleneck, not us.
Can I install on more than one device?
Yes. Install on as many devices as you like. What your plan limits is how many can stream at the same time, from 1 to 5. See the pricing page.
What internet speed do I need?
15 Mbps sustained per HD stream, 25 Mbps for 4K, 5 Mbps for SD. Multiply by the number of people watching at once.
I have followed everything and it still will not work.
Email help@catchontv1.email with your username, your device, and what the screen actually says. We would rather fix it than have you inside the 7-day money-back window thinking about a refund.
